Description:Lexicomp Online is a point-of-care database that provides information about drugs and their usage, dosage, and adverse reactions. Users can also find information about drug interactions, toxicology, natural products, and drug identification based on shape, color, and dosage form.

Access:Western University of Health Sciences authorized users only. Remote access via the proxy server available for currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff of WesternU. Please read Lexi-CompsEnd User Licenseagreement before use.

License Information:

Authorized Users

“Authorized User” means a Licensee staff member, faculty member, enrolled student, or walk-in users and who is permitted by Licensee to access or use the Licensed Content as follows: All current onsite Licensee faculty (including temporary or exchange faculty for the duration of their assignment), professional staff, librarians, enrolled students, and onsite residents, who have been issued secure network credentials by the Licensee to access the Licensed Materials for the purposes of educational and research activities. Other persons may be considered Authorized Users permitted to use the Licensee’s library or university facilities and access the Secure Network but only if physically present at computer terminals within the Licensed Site (including walk-in users)

Such access by Licensee shall be solely in the course of its academic offerings. The use does not include use in the provision of clinical services, direct patient care, or patient counseling except as directly associated with student education under the supervision of a faculty member. The use does not include use in dispensing of prescriptions, or any commercial use. For the avoidance of doubt, research conducted by Licensee and Authorized Users that is supported by a commercial entity shall not be considered commercial use.

Authorized Sites

Western University of Health Sciences Pomona and Oregon campuses only. Affiliated institutions, their employees, or anyone whose primary employment site is not WesternU's physical campuses is not included in this license.

Permitted uses

1. View and search the content.
2. Download single documents for the individual use of an Authorized User.
3. Print single documents.
4. Make a reasonable number of photocopies of a printed document from the Licensed Content for the individual use of an Authorized User or for the use by or distribution to other Authorized Users, provided that UpToDate’s copyright and disclaimer notices are not removed.
5. print or make photocopies of patient education leaflets provided in the Licensed Content ("LCOPE") for the sole purpose of reinforcing oral counseling provided by a licensed healthcare professional and supporting a treatment regimen for patients/consumers of Licensee or healthcare professionals, subject to the following additional terms and conditions:
   1. Licensee and Authorized Users shall use LCOPE Content only as a source of generalized written patient education that can be provided unmodified in the form of a printed handout given to Licensee's or Authorized Users' patients/consumers in a clinical care setting as a limited supplement to individualized counseling provided to the patient/consumer by a licensed healthcare professional. LCOPE Content may not be used to replace professional clinical judgment of a licensed healthcare professional or to substitute for appropriate, individualized verbal counseling or clinical decision making by a licensed healthcare professional.
   2. Any LCOPE Content provided to Licensee's/Authorized Users' patients/consumers must include UpToDate’s unmodified copyright and disclaimer notices.
   3. Licensee and Authorized Users may provide or print LCOPE Content that is appropriate for individual patients/consumers, in the judgment of Licensee's licensed healthcare professionals or Authorized User (to the extent Authorized User is also a healthcare professional). Licensee and Authorized Users may not provide or print LCOPE Content generally for use or distribution outside of the context of the appropriate needs of an individual patient/consumer (i.e. LCOPE Content cannot be generally provided or printed in a library of handouts that are not specifically provided to an individual patient/consumer).
   4. Licensee and Authorized Users are not permitted to use LCOPE Content as an adjunct to the provision of healthcare services or patient care except as expressly provided herein.
   5. Licensee will provide patient education content from the Licensed Content to patients only by way of direct interaction with a licensed clinical professional at the time the Content is provided to the patient.

Prohibited uses

1. Use, permit the use of, permit access to, or distribute the Licensed Content to any third-party.
2. Print all or any substantial portion the Licensed Content.
3. Modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive or alter any of the Licensed Content or any underlying source code or software.
4. Use the Licensed Content to provide service bureau, time sharing, or similar services to third parties, including any parent, subsidiary, or other affiliate of Licensee.
5. Distribute or sublicense the Licensed Content, or make any attempt to do so, (f) sell, assign, transfer, rent, lease, pledge, or encumber the Licensed Content or make any attempt to do so.
6. Alter, remove, or hinder delivery of any Content in the Licensed Content, including without limitation any formatting, ordering or placement of Content, or any copyright, disclaimer, warning, data expiration date, or last updated date included in the Content.
7. Take any action compromising the enjoyment and use of the Licensed Content by any other UpToDate customer.
8. Take any action compromising UpToDate’s rights in the Licensed Content.
9. Under no circ*mstances shall Licensee use the Licensed Content, any portion thereof or any information derived therefrom, to develop or to assist any third party in developing any content, product(s) or service(s) in any format similar to, or which could be competitive with, the Licensed Content or any other content or service(s) provided by UpToDate or an entity under common ownership with UpToDate

Remote Access

The use of proxy servers is permitted as long as any proxy server IP addresses provided limit remote or off-campus access to Authorized Userswho have been issued secure network credentials by the Licensee to access the Licensed Materials for the purposes of educational and research activities.
